A menstruating person does not have to insert anything, the underwear is more discreet than a standard sanitary pad, and if necessary it is suitable as a backup in combination with other hygiene items.

The Sphinx underwear can totally replace your needs for disposable products such as tampons, pads, panty liners, or incontinence products. Depending on your flow and feeling you can wear the Sphinx with additional protection to help prevent leaks and stains.

Our Sphinx Underwear features 4 built-in layers that can absorb between 1 and 6 tampons worth of liquid, keep sweat and odor away. Our moisture-wicking breathable gusset is designed to provide you with confident protection against period leaks, light bladder leaks, and sweat. The underwear is soft, elastic and feels like normal underwear. The underwear absorbs the fluid while neutralizing smells and restricting the growth of bacterias. So you can feel dry and fresh all day no matter what!

Sphinx underwear do not crackle and rustle, neither when unpacking nor when wearing or walking.

Depending on the size, tampons can hold between 10 -25 ml of fluid and an average pad can hold 10 ml. However, please keep in mind that on average a woman loses a total of 10 - 100 ml of blood during her period. Depending on the style, Sphinx underwear can hold up to 6 tampons (60 ml). Please choose the appropriate Sphinx underwear according to your flow and desired absorbency.

Depending on the flow, Sphinx can be worn for up to 12 hours.

Yes, Sphinx underwear are also suitable for postpartum bleeding.

It is common for fluid to flow out after sexual intercourse. Of course, the Sphinx also absorbs this fluid and keeps you dry.

Yes of course, Sphinx underwear is breathable. The inner layer of the underwear wicks away moisture, keeping you dry, fresh and comfortable no matter how warm it gets.

The Sphinx underwear can totally replace the alternative period products as well as be used in combination with them.

Step 1: Rinse with cold water; pre-washing is the most important step! We recommend you to rinse by hand your Sphinx underwear in cold water until the water turns clear. Hot water shall be avoided as this will cause the blood to stick to the underwear and clog the fibers. If you cannot rinse your Sphinx underwear immediately, and it has dried, place it in a basin of cold water to soften the fibers of the fabric and release the blood. After rinsing, you can, either wash your Sphinx underwear by hand with a mild detergent or put it directly in the washing machine with dark laundry. Then hang it up in a non humid environment or lay it flat to dry for reuse during the cycle. Step 2: Washing After the menstrual underwear has been rinsed well, you can put it in the washing machine. Please choose a washing program at 30-40 °C, you can mix your Sphinx underwear with the rest of the dark laundry without hesitation. Please avoid detergents that are too rich in glycerin. Over time, the glycerin can affect the absorbency of the fibers and cause your Sphinx underwear to leak. Fabric softeners are because of their excessive oily formulas, also to be avoided. Step 3: Drying As with any delicate laundry, please avoid the dryer as the heat can damage the waterproof fabric of your Sphinx underwear. We recommend hanging up the underwear in a non humid environment or lay it flat to dry.

If you properly and carefully take care of your sphinx underwear, it can be reused for up to five years.

We ship the underwear both from Germany and directly from our overseas manufacturers. Depending on the availability of the sets, we split the order to stay efficiency and shorten the waiting time. The shipping costs for the partial shipments are also borne by us.

You have 60 days after receiving the goods to test the underwear and return the goods. Please note that an exchange or refund is excluded if the underwear has been washed or used.

Sphinx underwear are designed and sewn like normal underwear. Although the crotch area is multi-layered, it is made thin looks and feels like normal underwear. Whereas the boxshort does not look nice under tight pants.

Disposable hygiene products have been manufactured since 1931(tampons); 1960 (pads) and each needs up to 500 years to decompose. A woman uses approximately 10,000 - 17,000 tampons or pads in her lifetime, to come in addition the packaging of each product. Washable and reusable Sphinx period underwear is cost-effective, contributes to the reduction of the consumption of disposable hygiene products and thus protects the environment.

We consciously made the decision to manufacture in China. Because even if it says "Made in Europe" or "Made in Germany", period underwear is only assembled in the EU or Germany. The materials still come from Egypt, Bangladesh or China. We have found a family run business in China that manufactures according to ethical standards and does all the steps in their factory. Thus, the manufacture is more ecological and sustainable than if we rely on "Made in Germany". We have carefully checked all our partners before starting any cooperation and are happy we found manufacturers that enable our high standards: STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification; because Sphinx does not contain toxic substances. We use recycled materials and organic cotton to manufacture the Sphinx. The entire chain as well as the ethical working conditions are certified by Global Recycle Standard (GRS). Of course, no children are involved in the manufacturing process and no animal testing has been done. The synthetics we use (polyester, nylon, spandex, elastane) are certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® [SHKO 068780 TESTEX].

During menstruation, bacteria are excreted along with blood. These bacteria multiply especially fast in a humid and warm environment and can be killed in a wash cycle of 70-80°C. This high temperature would unfortunately extremely weaken the functions of the technical fabrics sewn into the crotch area of the Sphinx. Because the Sphinx shall be washed at a maximum of 40°c, we recommend a temperature range of 30-40°C. For health reasons, it is essential to offer period underwear that inhibits the multiplication of bacteria. We have been very careful in the selection of this agent. We chose a non-toxic, highly efficient antimicrobial, bacteria-killing and odor-inhibiting silver solution consisting of nano-sized, easily soluble silver salt crystals named SilverClear.

SilverClear is used in many products , e.g. in medicine for the treatment of chronic wounds, radiodermatitis, ulcers and severe burns.

The period underwear is just as durable as the standard underwear. Period underwear is considered a delicate product, thus the elastic and the thread may get damaged with wear and tear. Though wear and tear may appear this will not impact the effectiveness of the technology built into the crotch of the Sphinx. Taking good care of your underwear will protect its functionality and allows it to remain in use for as long as possible.
